Cementon Park
Greek Orthodox Easter Sunday April 8th,2018, after finishing dinner with the family. I decided to take Sofia my 2 year old daughter out on an adventure. We usually go to different parks on nice days. Being my schedule is so busy with work and school, Easter Sunday was a good day to have some fun. The park down the street from our house a lot to offer, Volley ball, Basketball court, playground, and lots of trees to play in or even just sit next to and listen to the leaves blow in the wind. It is one of our favorite pass times.
We reached the park around 5:30 p.m. the day was still filled with a hint of winter still holding on. We were of coursed dressed for the occasion being that as it may. Sofia s cheeks where red from the mild wind, and her nose was getting a little runny too. She was definitely up for the walk, we brought with us a pink ball to kick around in the grassy field. Near by is the baseball field where all the children of the family have played in. I can still see my nephew Waheeb hitting a home run in that field. We then decided to go to the swing set, and slide, it is our favorite thing to do. The ground was still muddy from the left over precipitation, so our shoes where getting extremely muddy. We did not have a care in the world because we where just having fun. Up above us the birds were soaring high, Sofia asked, “ Mommy what are they doing?” I responded, “ probably looking for food.” She loves to watch and observe nature around her, I also enjoy helping teaching her about it.
The weather being windy and the temperature being 40 degrees did not stop me and my little one. After 45 minutes we decided to take the walk back home. Along our walk we saw the stone covered drive way, we enjoy taking that road back home because she likes picking up the rocks and throwing them. I was hoping spring would have come sooner and winter would have gone by now. Because instead of picking up rocks we usually get to pick flowers that we see along the way. This time of year was hard for the flowers to bloom, given how cold it is still out. Usually we will see a bunch and collect them and put them in vase. That was not the case this year. Even though our winter was not as snowy when I was growing up. We still had the cold lingering around more then we should have. I know this I am looking forward to spring actually getting here because we can not wait to go pick the beautiful flowers that do grow in our neighborhood.
